FAQs About Selling Your Watch

How do I sell my watch to GOLDAMMER?

If you’re looking to sell your watch online, our process is simple and discreet.

Submit your watch using our form with basic details and photos. Our specialists review each submission individually and, if suitable, provide a non-binding purchase indication. No obligation, no pressure — every watch is handled professionally and discreet.

How is the purchase price of my watch determined?

Our pricing is based on:

  • current international market demand
  • originality and condition
  • reference, configuration, and completeness
  • recent comparable transactions

As a professional dealer, we purchase with the intention of resale, which is reflected in the price.

Our aim is always to offer a fair, market-aligned price that works for both sides.

How quickly will I receive a response after submitting my watch?

After submitting your watch with photos and details, we typically respond within 24 hours on weekdays.

Each watch is reviewed individually.

If your watch fits our current acquisition focus, we’ll provide a non-binding purchase indication.

If not, we’ll let you know promptly.

Will you renegotiate the price after receiving my watch?

In the vast majority of cases, the price indication you receive is the price you’re paid.

Occasionally, issues can only be identified during hands-on inspection (for example, undisclosed repairs or internal damage).

If this happens, we’ll contact you transparently to discuss the findings.

You always retain the option to have your watch returned to you — your watch is never held hostage.

How long does it take to get paid for my watch?

Once your watch has arrived and passed our final in-house inspection, payment is usually made within 1–2 business days via bank transfer.

In rare cases, we may require an additional specialist opinion on originality or condition. If so, we’ll keep you fully informed throughout the process.

There are no commissions or hidden deductions.

How do I ship my watch to GOLDAMMER safely?

Shipping is arranged by the seller.
After preliminary approval, we provide clear guidance on suitable couriers and insurance options to help ensure your watch is shipped safely and fully insured.

Upon arrival, all watches are handled discreetly and stored securely at GOLDAMMER.

What happens to my watch after I send it to you?

Once your watch arrives, it undergoes a careful in-house inspection by our specialists to confirm authenticity, originality, and condition in line with the details you provided.

All incoming watches are handled discreetly and stored in a secure environment.

No work is carried out without your agreement.

Should I clean, polish, or service my watch before selling it?

In most cases, no.

For vintage watches, original condition, natural wear, and patina are often preferred.

Polishing or servicing before evaluation can reduce value or remove important originality.

We recommend submitting the watch as it is, and letting us advise if any work is beneficial.

What if I decide not to proceed after sending my watch?

If you choose not to proceed, or if we cannot finalize a purchase, your watch can be returned to you.

Any return is discussed transparently in advance, and no pressure is applied to complete a sale.

Do you buy watches from outside the EU?

We work primarily with sellers within the EU.

Submissions from outside the EU are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, as import taxes and customs procedures can make certain purchases unfeasible.

We’ll always clarify this before asking you to ship your watch.

What types of watches are you currently looking for?

We focus on fine vintage and collectible wristwatches, typically manufactured before 2010, from a curated selection of brands.

Accepted brands: Audemars Piguet, Cartier, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Longines, Omega, Patek Philippe, Piaget, Rolex, Vacheron Constantin, Zenith

Market demand changes over time, so even if a watch isn’t suitable today, it may be relevant in the future.

Each submission is reviewed individually.

Do you buy watches without box and papers?

Yes. Many vintage watches were sold long before box and papers were commonly preserved. Box and papers are appreciated but not required.
