Universal Genève 135102 “Cioccolatone” – 18k Yellow Gold, 1960s
A bold rarity from mid-century Universal Genève design.
The “Cioccolatone” nickname—Italian for chocolate square—has become a beloved term among collectors for watches with rich, squared cases and an unmistakable wrist presence. Produced for just seven years between 1955 and 1962, this Ref. 135102/1 is one of the rarest executions, crafted in 18k yellow gold with signature Universal Genève details.
Most notably, the Polerouter-style stepped bezel isn’t on the dial but rather sculpted into the case itself—giving it a uniquely architectural charm and elegant profile. Its proportions, at 30mm square, wear larger than the numbers suggest, offering strong vintage appeal on the wrist.
This example comes in beautiful condition, with the original golden dial, matching hands and UG-signed crown, and a perfectly paired cognac brown GOLDAMMER Kardinal leather strap.
